In
our fast-changing world, the need to learn and master skills cannot
be underestimated. In fact, the impact of the information age on
human life and existence demands that skills learning and mastery
should be a priority and not an option for every young person who
desires to be successful. Learning and developing skills in our
present challenging environment is also an essential part of being
able to navigate through the challenges of everyday life. The
dramatic changes in global economies in recent years have been
matched by mind-blowing transformation in technology. More so, both
factors are contributing immensely to changes in the spheres of
influence. In order to be able to cope with the increasing changes
and pace of modern life, it is expedient for us to learn and master
skills that will help us deal with whatever life throws at us.
I’ll
be writing on 20 skills every success-driven young person needs to
learn and master. But I’ll start with the first FIVE (5) in this
article and will finish up the remaining in my subsequent articles on
this subject. Let’s go

If
as a young person you don’t know how to swim, then you need to
seriously consider learning and mastering this skill. There are quite
a lot of emergency situations and career opportunities that might
demand you having swimming skill. It is also a survival skill needed
when in a precarious situation that might just need you to
demonstrate your survival instinct for either yourself or someone
else.

DRESSING SKILL
I’m
sure many of us will smile while reading this one. But the truth is
not everyone knows how to dress properly. Dressing has a loud voice
that communicates different messages to people. In fact, it is a very
important factor in personal branding. You must learn how to dress
properly. Learn and master the skill of knowing the right clothes to
wear for different occasions. Also, do well to understand the essence
of color psychology in dress sense. Dress to be addressed
appropriately and not just for the mere purpose of impressing people.
Learn to be neat and tidy, be up-to-date on good fashion trends, be
professional when needed and look classy even in your casuals and try
to bring some personality into it. Remember, first impression matters
because you might never have a second chance to create a good first
impression.

There
is a general misconception that culinary skill is for the female
gender. But the truth is that both sexes can learn and master the art
of cooking. Some of the best chefs in the world today are from the
bests of both worlds (male and female). Cooking skill can help you
save a lot of cash from eating junks and spending much in
restaurants. Being able to cook is a no-brainer because it is a good
habit for healthy living. This could be a good business venture that
can create another stream of income if you have the passion for it.

person to learn and master the art of effective communication.
Learning and mastering how to express yourself in words, actions and
writing forms could just be the magic wand you need to possess to
make the quantum leap from mediocrity to true success. You can
challenge yourself everyday to learn the art this skill intentionally
and I bet you will experience tremendous changes in your life and
also see positive results in your career.

PERSONAL FINANCE MANAGEMENT SKILL
Human
wants are insatiable and the need to live within our means is very
essential if we are to enjoy true success in life. As a young person
it is advisable to think carefully about all your expenditures and
how to balance things up. Truth be told that luxuries are beautiful
things to have, but of what use are they if after acquiring them you
are left in a real financial mess? Don’t be a slave to funding a
lifestyle that will not last and is detrimental to your financial
health. Learn how to fix and manage a personal budget. Learn to live
modestly, save up cash and also invest in things that will yield good
returns.
