DEMOCRACY IN PIECES

Crossed cables in my mind loose connections in my body
Loose connections in my body
My heart aches for our failing values
Cold deaths of our very own by our very own
Vampiric appetite by desperate megalomaniacs
Shedding innocent blood for their own selfish gains
To them it's all or nothing with no empathy for the masses
The pain they feel is so excruciating as they can do absolutely nothing
All in the name of democracy; more of a curse than a blessing.

The people are wailing, their rights have been deprived
Gunshots in their barracks have aroused fear in their hearts
Their walls have been broken and their voices silenced
Life is no longer at ease as their lives are at risk
What do we tell our children unborn about our country?
What can we say about our democracy?
Do we still want to continue with this living nightmare?
Denials and betrayals, it has always been a false dawn for us
Traumas we have left behind and never want to experience ever again
